Sponsor a Child's Education
There are two ways in which to assist the HOI Education program:
The HOI Culuco School Sponsorship program assists with funding for HOI’s schools in Culuco, a village just minutes away from Rancho el Paraíso. These schools, Aldersgate Elementary and Hope Middle, were established in 2000 and 2001 to educate children in the area. There is no application process for these students, and all funding is directed at supporting expenses of operating the schools.
Options for supporting HOI’s schools include a Full Sponsorship, $600/year, and a Partial Sponsorship, $300/year. Although sponsorships do not support one student directly, each sponsor is matched with a student. Sponsors may communicate with their student through letters, photos, and in-person meetings when the sponsor is part of a mission trip.

The Public School Scholarship program provides direct funding for students to attend public middle and high schools in other areas of the Agalta Valley. Most students in Honduras only go to school through the sixth grade; to attend a secondary school, students must have the resources to pay expenses including tuition, uniforms, books and supplies. To receive a scholarship from HOI, prospective middle and high school students must go through an application process, which includes both a test and a review process by the HOI Scholarship committee. This committee is made up entirely of Hondurans familiar with the local education system: high school principals, HOI education staff, and volunteers. Students are screened and selected according to their grades from the previous school year, test results, and financial need. They must reapply each year.
Two types of scholarships exist in this program. Because of the distance a student must sometimes travel to school, some leave their families to live with a host family. A Room and Board scholarship, $700/year, provides funds for a student for both school expenses and room and board fees. ATuition Only scholarship, $300/year, provides funds for school expenses.
Each sponsor is matched with a student and may communicate with their student through letters, photos, and in-person meetings when the sponsor is part of a mission trip.
